del Lago Resort and Casino: Savor Saloon Event

Writer: Elijah FelixElijah Felix

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to come up with another savor event for this quarter and decided to go with a real WESTERN party. Savor got a southern country facelift and was turned into the one and only Savor Saloon. We brought back live music in this space for the night featuring a local country band, Junkyard Heights. We haven’t had that in quite some time so it’s nice to be able to bring back entertainment to the gaming floor especially when it’s a band of this size!

The shirts I designed came in amazing quality. You can’t see it but the cowboy on the back and the company logo on the sleeve made the shirt. Merch design is something I love, it’s something that I look for as soon as I get into the venue of a show. I think there’s serious value to putting in real effort to a band or company’s merchandise. As an ex-supreme reseller and hypebeast, a design for your merch line should not be considered a low-level priority. If your t-shirt is memorable, eye-catching, and unique the interest you gain off the initial investment will only grow over time.

We also had live games for our guests to play such as corn hole and beer pong. We had swag giveaways featuring items you would find throughout the old Western era such as cowboy hats, fake mustaches, and handkerchiefs. It’s my hope that every one that came out had a good time because I know I did. Especially when I hosted our great yeeeehawwwww contest where a lucky winner went home with $1,500. As someone who, despite working in entertainment, doesn’t get on the mic often, it was a great experience to be the one to MC for the night.

We even went as far as to make an entire commercial for it! It’s funny thinking back on how this all start from me seeing a Reno 911 PSA. It was after that that I went straight to my managers office and said “I have an idea”. I went straight to writing the script, I gathered the props, we set up the green screen and the camera and it was all action. The whole project took under 3 hours with the simple goal of making something so ridiculous and nonsensical that it would be funny. I’m so happy with how this came out and I hope you enjoy watching it lol.
